Fire Resistant Rescue Webbing & Straps
SCBA (Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus) webbings are made from DuPont Kevlar® and Nomex® for maximum durability and fire resistance tested in-house per the NFPA 1981 for heat and flame resistance.
Nomex® is flame-resistant, resistant to high temperatures, abrasion-resistant, will not melt or drip, and carbonizes at 800°F. UL component recognized NFPA 1971, NFPA 1977, and NFPA 2112.
High-performance Kevlar® Webbing is a critical component in protective flame-resistant clothing, harnesses, and helmets. This webbing has a high strength-to-weight ratio, self-extinguishing flame retardant properties, and more.
Our Fire Resistant Elastics offer excellent flame resistance protection in critical life saving situations. Our unique elastic delivers superior stretch and recovery performance for use in protective flame-resistant apparel and equipment.
Harness and escape webbing plays a critical role in the safety and comfort of firefighters. We work with leading safety manufacturers and engineers to design custom harnesses and escape webbing for various uses.

FAQs About Firefighting & Rescue Webbing
What testing is done to your firefighting webbing?
Sturges weaves a variety of webbings used in the fire industry with Kevlar® and Nomex® fibers. We have these webbings UL component recognized annually through Underwriters Laboratory to the NFPA 1951, 1971, 1977, 1983, and 2112 standards. In addition to the annual UL testing, Sturges tests each lot of webbing to continually verify adherence to the NFPA standards. This includes the vertical heat and flame tests of both laundered and unlaundered samples. Also, each lot of FR elastic webbing is also stretch tested in accordance with ASTM D4964 and a certificate of compliance accompanies each shipment, defining the specifications and results of each test.
